Pan fried Cabbage with Mustard seeds

Focusing on ways to fancy up basic veg this month, last week we highlighted a simple easy way to fancy up your brocolli, this week we show you how to make cabbage taste amazing! This is a great way to add veg to a dish of dumplings or as a side to fried rice.


¼ cup olive oil

2 teaspoons mustard seeds – yellow or brown is fine

4 thinly sliced cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of turmeric

½ teaspoon of ground ginger

6 cups of thinly sliced cabbage – green works best for this recipe

½ teapsoon salt

1 tablespoon of lemon juice


In a large wok or pan, heat the oil over a med -high heat. Add the mustard seeds to the oil and stir.

Once the seeds are heated, add the garlic, turmeric, and ginger and saute for approx. 30 seconds.

Add the cabbage and salt, and stir until coated. Cover the pan and cook until the cabbage is getting tender (15-20 mins)

Add the lemon juice and serve hot with air fried mashed vegetable balls and Culleys Teriyaki Mayo.
